Poway Sheriff's Deputies to Conduct DUI Checkpoint Friday

The checkpoint at an undisclosed location is set to begin at 7 p.m. Friday.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Poway Station will be conducting a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint at an undisclosed location from 7 p.m. Friday, March 15 to 3 a.m. Saturday, March 16, according to a press release.

Funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety, the checkpoint's aim is to deter drivers that may be driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and drivers operating vehicles with a suspended license or no license at all.

Drivers suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or drivers without a valid driver’s license will be apprehended, according to the release.
