Poway Area Hit by Burglars, Police Ask Public's Help

Authorities asked for the public's help today in identifying the thieves behind a recent rash of home burglaries in the Poway area.

Authorities asked for the public's help today in identifying the thieves behind a recent rash of home burglaries in the Poway area.

Ten homes were burglarized between Oct. 1 and Dec. 17, according to San Diego County Crime Stoppers. The burglaries occurred in Poway, Scripps Ranch and Rancho Bernardo.

Based on surveillance video, investigators with the Sheriff's Department and San Diego Police Department believe two thieves are behind all 10 burglaries and they are using a silver sedan or a black motorcycle to get away.

The culprits, who have taken jewelry and other small valuables, have gotten in through unlocked windows or doors and, in some cases, broken a window.

Anyone with more information about the burglaries was asked to call sheriff's deputies in Poway at (858) 513-2800 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580- 8477. Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $1,000 for tips that lead to an arrest. Anonymous emails and text messages can be sent to www.sdcrimestoppers.com.
