UPDATE: Possible Bomb Scare Shuts Down Interstate 15

Traffic is being diverted onto Miramar Road and State Route 52.

Both the north and southbound I-15 is closed at Miramar Way because of police activity, officials say.

A motorist reported the incident to the CHP at around 2:30 p.m., according to the CHP dispatcher.

News 8 is reporting that a motorist stopped his car in lanes on northbound I-15 and told others that he thought there is a bomb in his car. Bomb squad is responding.

Both the California Highway Patrol and the San Diego Police Department, who is assisting in the matter, would only confirm that it is a delicate matter.

State Route 163 is also affected by the incident. Northbound traffic is being diverted onto SR-52. Southbound lanes were reopened around 4:15 p.m., according to CalTrans.
