Pedestrian Struck by Jeep at Community Road and Metate Lane

A man was struck by a Jeep after he crossed a "No Pedestrian Crossing" intersection.

A man was sent to the hospital Monday after being struck by a vehicle on Community Road and Metate Lane, authorities announced Tuesday.

The 67-year-old man apparently crossed the intersection—which has two signs posted "No Pedestrian Crossing"—around 4:14 p.m. before being struck by a 2006 Jeep traveling southbound.

Authorities said the driver was at a "normal" rate of speed, and drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in the collision.

The pedestrian was transported to Palomar Hospital where he sustained a moderate laceration to the back of his head.

The investigation is on-going.
