Several miles to the west, Dunn ran a red light at Pomerado and Rancho Bernardo roads, then continued into San Diego and crashed into the back of an occupied vehicle at Acena Drive, Giltner said. The retirement-age couple in the rear-ended car were unhurt.

At that point, Dunn jumped out of his heavily damaged vehicle and ran off. A witness pointed out to arriving deputies where Dunn had run, and they arrested him moments later.

Dunn was expected to be booked on suspicion of auto burglary, felony evasion of peace officers and violating conditions of his parole.

"Poway detectives are processing the (crime) scene, the suspect's vehicle and recovered property,'' Giltner said. "These detectives, as part of their regular investigative duties, will begin looking at other cases to see if they are connected to Dunn.''
