Poway High Security Increased After YouTube Video Suggests 'Potential Threat'

An email sent out Friday afternoon told parents one individual is being investigated.

One person is under investigation after school officials discovered a YouTube video hinting at a "potential threat" to , according to an email sent to parents late Friday.

officials discovered the video late Thursday evening, according to the email. Though an "actual threat" isn't indicated, the Poway is assisting school officials in monitoring the situation. In addition, the email noted that "local law enforcement, school and district officials, and the FBI have been working to identify the source of this posting."

"The district is working with the Poway Sheriff’s Department and will continue to monitor and provide campus security supervision," PUSD Superintendent John Collins said in the email.

As of Friday afternoon, no arrests had been made. The email also said that the "district withheld earlier parental notification in order to avoid jeopardizing the investigation."

The video was removed from YouTube, according to the sheriff's department.
