Minor Decoys Get Drinks; Six Cited in Sting

One-third of tested retailers provided alcohol to underage decoys, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Six employees were cited Saturday in a North County operation testing whether retailers would provide alcohol to underage decoys, according to a news release.

Five out of 15 retailers in the North County operation—at locations in Poway, Ramona, San Marcos, Oceanside and Encinitas—gave alcohol to the underage decoys, according to the release from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The Minor Decoy Operation is funded by a $100,000 grant through a partnership with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
