Helmetless Boy on Bike Hit by Vehicle

An 11-year-old boy was bit by a car in Poway on Sunday.

An 11-year-old boy who wasn't wearing a helmet or any protective gear was hit while riding his bicycle across the street in Poway on Sunday, according to the sheriff's department.

The boy was riding westbound in the intersection of Edgemoor Street and Brighton Avenue around 6:22 p.m. Sunday when he was hit by a vehicle, according to a news release from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

"It appears the collision occurred after the juvenile failed to stop before crossing the street on his bicycle," the release stated.

The boy suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Children's Hospital. The vehicle's driver was not injured and the incident is under investigation, according to the release.

I am glad that the car driver did not do a hit-and-run. There was a similar incident that the driver left the victim after hitting him. Though it was not serious, but the driver should not have left the victim but should have brought him to the hospital. It was good that the bike left a big scratch on the side of the car. The driver was having it replaced at a distant car parts dealer, but good thing the news traveled fast. The car parts dealer reported him and the driver was apprehended. http://www.carid.com
