Hearing Ahead for Man Accused of Stuffing Woman's Body in Suitcase

Joseph Dorsey is accused of killing 47-year-old Christine Stewart and stuffing her body in a suitcase that was found at a Poway hotel in August.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Friday in the case of a man accused of murdering a woman and stuffing her body in a suitcase that was found at a Poway motel.

Joseph David Dorsey, 28, is accused of killing 47-year-old Christine Stewart at his apartment in Lake Elsinore, then fleeing to a Best Western on Poway Road, according to a news release from the Riverside County District Attorney's Office.

Stewart was reported missing on Aug. 6. Two days later, investigators found out Dorsey had checked into the Best Western in Poway three days before. The suspect never checked out so motel employees took possession of the items he'd left behind in the motel, including a rolling suitcase with Stewart's 5-foot-2-inch body inside, according to the release.
