Give Up Guns, Get Gift Cards

Take your guns Dec. 21 to Euclid Avenue in San Diego and the Sheriff's Department will give you a $50-$100 grocery store gift card.

The San Diego Sheriff’s Department’s Guns for Gift Cards program has more cards to give away to anyone that brings a gun in to be destroyed, no questions asked.

On Friday, Dec. 21, deputies will be 415 Euclid Ave. in San Diego from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. accepting firearms of all types.  Shotguns and rifles are worth a $50 card, with handguns and assault rifles getting $100 cards, which can be redeemed at local grocery stores. The guns must be in working order.

The firearms must be unloaded and be placed in the trunk. Uniformed deputies will be at the location to provide instructions about the exchange process.
