Driver Loses Control, Falls Down 350-Foot Embankment

The driver, who survived the accident, was transported to Palomar Medical Center.

A man was airlifted after his car fell into a 350-foot ravine off Kirkham Way in Poway, the Sheriff's Department reported Monday.

The 57-year-old man was found at the bottom of the ravine in his Mercedes and was transported to Palomar Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, according to sheriff's deputies, who responded around 8:16 a.m.

According to deputies, the man lost control of his vehicle. Further investigation is being handled by the Poway Traffic Investigators.

The extent of the driver's injuries is unknown though he was wearing a seatbelt and airbags did deploy, deputies said.
