The name of the 62-year-old man has not been released.

A 62-year-old man was critically injured Thursday afternoon following a motorcycle crash on Community Road and Olive Meadows Drive, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

The man was riding the motorcycle northbound on Community Road around 4:45 p.m. when heavy traffic stopped in front of him, said Cpl. Todd Murphy. The motorcyclist applied the brakes, the bike skidded briefly before overturning and the man fell onto the road and into the southbound lanes.

He was not hit by other vehicles, Murphy said, but he suffered severe head and internal injuries. He was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital and was in the intensive care unit in critical condition. His name was not released.
