Convicted: Man Who Left Dead Woman in Poway Hotel Faces 57 Years in Prison

Joseph David Dorsey, 28, was found guilty of first-degree murder.

A man charged with charged with killing his girlfriend, stuffing her body in a suitcase and then leaving it at a Poway hotel was convicted of first-degree murder Thursday, the L.A. Times reported.

According to the paper, Joseph David Dorsey, 28, was found guilty by a jury of one count of first-degree murder and could face up to 57 years to life in state prison. 

Dorsey killed 47-year-old Christine Stewart at his apartment in Lake Elsinore and then fled to a Best Western on Poway Road where he left the suitcase in August 2012, Patch previous reported. According to 

The man then fled to Mexico where he was arrested by authorities near Rosarito on Oct. 23. 

A sentencing date hasn't been scheduled, the L.A. Times said.
