Body Found at Blue Sky Preserve in Poway; No ID Yet

Officials had been searching for a missing man in that area, but have not determined if the body is that person.

Update May 6, 2013: The body has been identified as Richard Carter. The death was ruled a suicide, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner's Office.

Searchers have found a body at the Blue Sky Ecological Preserve in Poway, but officials have not yet identified who it is.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department announced Thursday afternoon that a body had been found in the 16000 block of Espola Road at the Blue Sky Ecological Preserve as part of a search effort for a missing 55-year-old man.

Richard Carter had last been seen in Poway on Monday and was reported missing by his wife, who lives in Poway, on Wednesday. Carter's car was found at Blue Sky, where it had been parked for two days, and on Thursday a search effort was underway there. Carter was considered at-risk because he had been despondent over family problems, according to City News Service.

At 12:30 p.m. Thursday, the Sheriff's Department announced that a body had been found by the Sheriff's Search and Rescue K‐9 Team. The Medical Examiner's Office was on scene, but had not yet made a positive identification of the body or the cause of death.
