20 Cited at Poway Checkpoint for Driving Without a License

According to the sheriff's department, 529 cars passed through the checkpoint Friday night at Pomerado Road and Stowe Drive.

No arrests were made at Friday night's checkpoint in Poway, conducted by the San Diego County Sheriff's department, but many citations were given for unlicensed drivers.

Deputies performed the DUI check from 7 p.m.-2:30 a.m. at Pomerado Road and Stowe Drive.

According to the department, 520 vehicles went through the checkpoint with contact, with 33 of them required for a secondary check. One field sobriety test as given.

While no arrests were made, officers handed out 20 citations for unlicensed drivers and three citations for driving with a suspended license. 

Another miscellaneous citation was given and one vehicle was taken and stored, the department said.
