Poll: Could Trayvon Martin Case Happen Here? Killing Called Lynching
Could a similar racially charged incident occur in a gated community of San Diego County?
George Zimmerman, an armed volunteer at a gated community in Florida, says he was acting in self-defense when he fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin last month. But when evidence surfaced in case, it was labeled a “modern-day lynching.” And the police chief of Sanford, FL, stepped down temporarily amid massive and harsh publicity in the case. The case involving Zimmerman, depicted by his family as being “a Spanish-speaking minority,” is under federal scrutiny. Could something like this happen here?
