Poway Library to Host Teen Parties; Offer Tattoos
The Poway Library is hosting events for teens throughout the month.
Being told you can’t do something often makes it even more desirable—like being reprimanded for not using your indoor voice in the library. But on Friday, feel free to hoot and holler all you want. Well, if you’re a teen, that is.
The is hosting a from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Friday, June 8 complete with pizza, video games and henna tattooing.
“It’s en vogue right now throughout the county,” said Librarian Daniel Aguilar of the teen programs. “You’ll see it in some of the bigger libraries.”

In fact, Aguilar says they get anywhere from 30 to 90 teens per event, which are organized by Youth Services Librarian Danielle Clayton.
“It’s gotten crazy. Not like the building’s on fire, but crazy like so many kids here,” he said.

The library is also hosting some other events for teens throughout the month to try and “instill more of that non-digital atmosphere.” They are as follows:
- Board Game Day from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5.
- Chocolate Tasting Party from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12.
- Balloon Animal Making 4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19.
- “Own the Night” Photo Contest 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26.
But you don’t have to come to party.
“Teens come in all shapes and sizes,” Aguilar said. “Sometimes they come and pull a book off the shelf and read the entire time.”
The programs are free. For more information about these and other programs at the library, call 858-513-2900.
