Help Mr. Boo Boo Find a New Home

The last wish of Micheline Hartman was for her beloved cat to find a new home.

Micheline Hartman, 73, a long-time resident of Rancho Bernardo and Poway, died unexpectedly last week in an emergency care facility. Mrs. Hartman was crazy about her big, black cat named Mr. Boo Boo and she tasked her son with finding a good home for him.

“I think she loved Mr. Boo Boo perhaps more than me,” Eric Hartman said with a smile. “Mr. Boo Boo was her entire life as everyone at Poway’s Los Arcos apartments knows.” (She lived in Rancho Bernardo for 35 years and in Poway for eight years.)

Hartman said he has to return to Northern California on Saturday and that he must find a good home before then.

“Mr. Boo Boo is a loving, affectionate cat who loves attention,” he says. “And he is doing very well indeed without any major health problems for being 10 years old.” (Medical records are available.)

Hartman added that he hopes to find a senior to adopt his mother’s cat or someone with no children who would be home most of the day.

“My mom was there all the time for him so he is used to being pampered,” Hartman noted.

The family is searching for a true cat lover with references because they won’t give to cat to just anyone.

“My mother’s last wish was for a really good home and we are trying hard to find that. I cannot place Mr. Boo Boo in a shelter as he would not survive there. And my home in Northern California is always open; Mr. Boo Boo is not an outdoor cat and he would not survive there either.”

Mrs. Hartman was born in France, moved here in the ’30s and achieved one of her early goals of earning U.S. citizenship in 2004. While here, she held a position as Security Supervisor of the San Diego International Airport.

Anyone interested in Mr. Boo Boo should call (858) 676-0482 before Saturday, Oct. 6. Please leave a message on the answering machine if necessary and we will return your call. There is no charge for adopting Mr. Boo Boo, but reference will be checked.
