3.3 Earthquake Shakes North County Thursday Night

Poway residents report feeling—and hearing—the quake, but no damage or injuries have been reported.

A magnitude 3.3 earthquake shook North County Thursday night, rattling nerves but apparently causing no injuries or damage.

According to the U.S Geological Survey, the quake hit at 11:09 p.m. 17 miles northeast of Escondido, only a few miles south-southwest of Palomar Observatory. More than 120 people from Poway posted a response on the USGS’s “Did You Feel It?” web site.

People posting on Facebook said they heard the quake as much as they felt the shaking. The USGS web site has collected more than 500 responses from Escondido and close to 150 from Ramona.
