Poway Celebrates with an Old Fashioned Christmas in the Park

City officials say Christmas in the Park offers guest a chance to step back in time to the turn-of-the-century.

Poway’s residents can step back in time to celebrate the holidays with the return of Poway’s Christmas in the Park celebration.

The event is scheduled from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 14 at Old Poway Park.  

City officials say the event offers guest a chance to step back in time to the turn-of-the-century.

Caroling and rides aboard a horse-drawn carriage and a 1907 Baldwin Steam Train will be featured. Guests will have the chance to create a unique gift in the North Pole Workshop and visit Santa, officials said.

The event is free. A new feature is the shuttles to the park.

“Plan to arrive early and stay late,” city officials wrote on a Facebook announcement of the event. “There will be about 6,000 other people joining you throughout the evening, so feel free to take the shuttle from the lots located at Twin Peaks and Midland Road.”

The shuttles are also free. Guests can board one at the Park and Ride lot located at the corner of Community Road and Twin Peaks Road, or at the Poway Adult School Parking lot at 13626 Twin Peaks Road.

Shuttles will run throughout the event beginning at 3 p.m., with the last shuttle leaving Old Poway Park at 9 p.m. For more information call
