Poway Days Parade Will Hit the Streets Saturday

Come early to claim a spot. With the numerous traffic detours, planning ahead is recommended.

The annual Poway Days Parade will be making its way down Poway Road Saturday morning at 9 a.m., although prime spots will be claimed well before the first float rolls by.

With the streets taken over by the parade, drivers will find detours directing them away from the action. The Sheriff’s Department has issued the following details on finding your way through Poway on Saturday:

• Pomerado Road will be closed to all northbound traffic from Stowe Drive to Poway Road, 6:30 a.m. to noon. Northbound traffic will be detoured onto eastbound Stowe Drive or U-turn back to Scripps Poway Parkway.

• Pomerado Road will be closed to all traffic in both directions in a one-block segment between Poway Road and Oak Knoll Road between the approximate times of 6:30 a.m. to noon. A suggested alternate route is to proceed west on Poway Road one block to Oak Knoll Road to get around the one-block closure.

• Poway Road will be closed to all traffic between Pomerado and Community roads beginning at 8:45 a.m. It will re-open at the conclusion of the parade, estimated to be at noon. The suggested alternate route around the area is to use Twin Peaks Road (to the north), which will be marked with detour signs along the route. Another alternative is Scripps Poway Parkway (to the south).
