Patch's Prime Poway Women Honored at Reception

Certificates of thanks were presented to women that have given back to the community, at a party held at The Terrace.

Each day last month, Poway Patch recognized a local woman for her contributions to the community, in honor of Women’s History Month. The 31 Prime Poway Women—selected from nominations sent in by readers—were toasted Wednesday night at a gathering at .

Many of the Prime Poway Women were there, along with family and friends, enjoying delicious appetizers and drinks. Representatives of Sen. Joel Anderson were there as well, with certificates of appreciation signed by the senator.

Councilwoman Merrilee Boyack spoke briefly, sharing the stories of women who took action to help those in need.

“We open our eyes to see, we don’t look away,” Boyack said. “We see the woman next to us that needs a hug. We see the teenager that’s looking down. We see the checker that needs to be thanked that day. We open our hearts.”
