Hats 'Off' to Soroptimist

Written by Bill Stoudenmire

The fourth annual “Hats On for High Tea” fundraiser to support the Soroptimist Transitional Housing Program for battered women and their children as well as other programs empowering women and girls was held on May 4 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn with 300 in attendance.  The event had a 50 percent attendance increase over last year and was sold out five weeks early.

The women enjoyed a social hour before the program that was emceed by Carol LeBeau, former Channel 10 news anchor.  District Attorney, Bonnie Dumanis, spoke as well as one of the graduates from the 18 month Transitional Housing program.

The Fashions Show was presented by White House/Black Market with models from  the Soroptimist clubs. According to chairwoman, Corinne Campbell, donations are still coming in but said at least $35,000 was raised through the live and silent auctions, raffle, and in person and online donations.
