Letter to the Editor: Confusing Mailer Collects Your Information, Rep. Peters Says

As several television advertisements, mailers, and attacks have already been launched by independent groups in advance of next year’s election, it's easy to see why some might be confused about where they all originate.

My campaign has not run any television advertisements this year, nor have we sent any mail. The League of Conservation Voters recently ran television ads independently across the country in support of five legislators for our work for clean water, including to support me here in San Diego.  Americans for Prosperity, a PAC funded by the Koch brothers, is running radio ads and sending direct mail attacking me here, too. Their mail piece asks the recipient to detach a postcard and send it to me, so many have mistakenly thought it was sent by my campaign. However, the return address goes to them, not to my office; the organization did this as a tactic to collect your information.  If you've sent one, please know that I did not receive it.

If you are confused by these, or have a question, please call or email my office, and we'd be happy to answer your questions.
