County Clerk to Accommodate Valentine's Day Couples

Want to get married this Valentine's Day? The San Diego County clerk will stay open one hour later just for you and your hopeful hubby.

1. The main county Clerk's Office will stay open an extra hour Monday to accommodate the dozens of couples expected to tie the knot or renew their vows on Valentine's Day. The office at the County Administration Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and while appointments are preferred, they are not required. The building is a favorite location for civil ceremonies, not just for convenience but for its picturesque setting adjacent to San Diego Bay. Based on recent history, about 100 couples are expected to tie the knot, according to the clerk's office.

2. The investigation continues Monday into why a taxi driver plowed into a crowd of people leaving a Gaslamp District nightclub,  injuring up to 25 people, including a woman who had to have a lower leg amputated. San Diego police say the driver may have blacked out or fallen asleep before striking the crowd outside Stingaree early Saturday morning.

3. It will be partly cloudy throughout the county Monday with wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour in the mountains and deserts. Highs Monday will be 63 to 68 in Poway.
