Travel Magazine Ranks San Diego Airport as 7th Safest

Travel and Leisure magazine used FAA incident reports from 2006 to 2010 at the nation's 35 busiest airports to compile its rankings.

2. The amphibious transport dock USS Cleveland is scheduled to return to San Diego on Thursday from a five-month humanitarian mission to the South Pacific. The Cleveland deployed March 21 as the command vessel for "Pacific Partnership,'' in which humanitarian visits were made to Tonga, Vanuatu, Papua-New Guinea, Timor-Leste and the Federated States of Micronesia. The Cleveland also made port calls to New Caledonia and Australia.

3. A 21-year-old woman has pleaded not guilty in a hit-and-run crash in Rancho Bernardo that left a decorated Marine hospitalized on life support. Jessica Bloom is accused of driving into 34-year-old Gunnery Sergeant Dave Smith as he waited on his motorcycle at a red light on Bernardo Center Drive Sunday afternoon. Authorities say she got out of her SUV, but then got back in and drove off. Witnesses followed her and she was arrested at her home.
Authorities say Bloom had a blood-alcohol level four times the legal limit. Read the full story on RanchoBernardo.Patch.com.
