Photo Spotlight: A Different Pitch to Fight Domestic Violence
All of the proceeds raised at Sunday's Operation for Hope charity softball game go to the Hope Fund, an emergency loan program that helps abuse victims find safety.
The city of Poway and the San Diego City Attorney's Office teamed up against each other in the third annual "Ready to Take the Diamond and Strike-Out Donestice Violence" charity softball game Sunday.
The Operation for HOPE Foundation, founded by Kimberly Weisz, is a "micro-emergency" fund created to help victims of domestic violence escape their barriers and find and maintain safety.
Co-chairs Don Higginson, Mayor of Poway, and Jan Goldsmith, San Diego City Attorney, represented their teams in a softball game played at the fields at Lake Poway. A silent auction was set up outside the field and 100 percent of the proceeds went to the HOPE Fund.
