Search Continues for Missing Miramar Marine

1. A man accused of opening fire on a Carlsbad elementary school playground last fall during lunch recess, wounding two second-grade girls, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity Thursday. Brendan Liam O'Rourke, 41, is charged with seven counts each of premeditated attempted murder and assault with a firearm in the shooting last Oct. 8 at Kelly Elementary School.

2. The Padres Playhouse on the San Diego Center for Children campus was donated Thursday in honor of County Supervisor Ron Roberts. The donation stems from a humanitarian award Roberts received April 7 from HomeAid San Diego, a nonprofit organization which recognized Roberts for his support of housing issues, said a representative for Roberts.

3. The search continues Friday morning for a missing Marine stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Military and civilian law enforcement agencies are searching for Cpl. James Jessen. The 22-year-old was reported missing from his barracks room Wednesday morning after failing to report to a corporal's course. Because Jessen is an avid runner, authorities are asking runners and hikers to stay alert on local trails.
