1. The average price of a gallon of self-serve unleaded gasoline in San Diego County Thursday is $3.98.2. That's 36.4 more than a month ago and 87.5 cents more than a year ago.
2. Someone who bought a Mega Millions lottery ticket in North Park is holding a ticket worth nearly $298,000. Lottery officials say the ticket bears five of the winning numbers in last night's drawing. The ticket was bought at a gas station mini-mart on University Avenue. The winning numbers are 14, 1, 53, 50 and 35. The ticket is missing the Mega number 43.
3. San Diego State University's men's basketball team will play the University of Connecticut Thursday to see which team will make the "Elite 8'' in this year's NCAA basketball tournament. The Aztecs are working on their best season ever, with a record of 34 wins and 2 losses. San Diego State is scheduled to play the University of Connecticut at the Honda Center in Anaheim at 4:15 p.m. It will be the first West Regional semifinal game in the tournament.
