SDSU Announces New Adviser for College of Business Administration

Alumna Kim Folsom is joining the college's advisory board on Wednesday.

1. The College of Business Administration at San Diego State University announced Tuesday that alumna Kim Folsom is joining the college's advisory board, effective June 1. Folsom, who earned her degree in information systems from SDSU in 1990,
is president and chief executive officer of ShowUhow, which provides video product guides via the Internet and smart phone to help consumers with the set-up and use of consumer products.

2. The University of San Diego Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate's Index for Economic Indicators for San Diego County rose for the 22nd time in 25 months, according to figures released Tuesday. The nearly 1 percent increase was led by sharp gains in building permits, said University of San Diego School of Business Administration professor Alan Gin, who compiled the report.

3. General Dynamics NASSCO was awarded a $744 million Navy contract to build two of a new class of landing ship— deal that could reduce planned layoffs, the San Diego shipbuilder announced Tuesday. The revised Mobile Landing Platform contract provides for a new design. The ships will serve with three Maritime Prepositioning Force Squadrons, which are strategically placed for fast responses worldwide, according to the shipbuilder.
