SDG&E Proposes $600M Upgrade

San Diego Gas & Electric is proposing that its ratepayers fund a 10-year upgrade of major lines looping the county, according to the The San Diego Union-Tribune.

1. Prompted in part by last year's deadly natural gas transmission line explosion near San Francisco, San Diego Gas & Electric has proposed that its ratepayers fund a $600 million, 10-year upgrade of major lines looping the county, it was reported Saturday. About 102 miles of large-diameter pipelines, built in the 1950s, would be replaced during the two-phase project, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

2. The 21st annual TVG Pacific Classic will be run at the Del Mar Racetrack Sunday, with $1 million at stake. The race is the ninth of 11 and will be preceded by the $200,000 Del Mar Handicap and the $250,000 Pat O'Brien Stakes. Racing starts at 1 p.m.

3. A vintage streetcar refurbished by volunteers with the Metropolitan Transit System made its first runs on a San Diego downtown trolley loop Saturday. The lovingly restored 1946 streetcar will depart the 12th and Imperial Trolley station on the hour and half-hour from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
