Authorities Warn San Diegans of Con Artists

According to authorities, the con artists stole cash from several retirement-age San Diegans recently.

1. Groundbreaking is set to take place this afternoon for a $577 million project to modernize and expand the San Ysidro Port of Entry. San Ysidro is the busiest international border crossing in the country. Officials estimate the will be complete in five years.

2. The average price of a gallon of self-serve unleaded gasoline in San Diego County rose a whopping 2.5 cents Thursday, settling at $3.618. That's 11.6 cents more than a week ago, 26.9 cents more than this time last month and 67.5 cents more than this time last year.

3. Authorities are warning the public to beware of a pair of con artists who talked their way into the homes of several retirement-age San Diegans on Presidents Day and stole cash from them. San Diego police say a man and woman who appear to be in their mid-30s to early 40s posed as roofing inspectors to gain access to a College area house and then a Del Cerro condominium in the city of San Diego.
