San Diego County Gas Prices Rise by 3 Cents

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose Saturday for the 14th time in 15 days to $3.943.

The average price is 16 cents higher than one week ago, 12.3 cents more than one month ago and 89.8 cents above what it was at this time last year, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

3. As part of a county-wide strike against suspected drunken drivers this Labor Day weekend, a checkpoint in Solana Beach netted four arrests, authorities said Saturday. Sheriff's deputies from the Encinitas station arrested four suspected drunken drivers between 7 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. at a checkpoint set up near the 400 block of Highway 101, in Solana Beach, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.  Although no drunken driving arrests were made at a Lemon Grove checkpoint, deputies cited 22 people for driving without a license or with a suspended or revoked license, Taft said.
