San Diego County Gas Prices on the Rise

The average price is 63 cents higher than it was a year ago.

1. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose three-tenths of a cent Thursday to $3.736, the fifth increase in six days following a 16-day streak of decreases. The average price is 2 cents more than one week ago and 63 cents higher than at this time last year, but 8 cents lower than a month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

2. A new paperless digital system for managing case files in the San Diego County District Attorney's Juvenile Division will save about one million pieces of paper a year, it was announced Wednesday. The project, known as JELS (Justice Electronic Library System), allows deputy district attorneys, deputy public defenders and county probation officers to manage juvenile case files electronically from the courtroom and to share documents in a secure environment.

3. The value of agriculture in San Diego County last year was placed at $1.65 billion, a 7 percent increase over 2009, according to a report released Wednesday. The 2010 Crop Statistics and Annual Report showed the most valuable product was ornamental trees and shrubs, worth nearly $419 million. Indoor flowering and foliage plants had a value of $292.5 million.
