San Diego County Gas Prices Increase by 2.7 Cents

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose Thursday for the 12th time in 13 days.

1. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose Thursday for the 12th time in 13 days, increasing 2.7 cents to $3.873, the highest since June 22. The average price is 13.4 cents higher than one week ago, 5.6 cents more than one month ago and 81.3 cents above what it was at this time last year, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

2. A 24-year-old Navy SEAL was recuperating Wednesday after becoming weak and dehydrated and getting lost while training in the Laguna Mountains, authorities said. Cal Fire, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and San Diego fire- rescue came to the SEAL's rescue Wednesday night, Cal Fire Capt. Mike Mohler told The San Diego Union-Tribune. The SEAL, whose name was not released, failed to report back to a rendezvous point with the rest of his group of about 50 Wednesday night, according to Mohler.

3. A two-mile stretch of coastline near Casa Reef was closed Wednesday after several people spotted a dorsal fin, feared to belong to a shark. The water one mile in each direction from Casa Reef will be off-limits for 24 hours, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Maurice Luque.
