San Diego County Gas Prices Increase 1.1 Cents

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.993.

1. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County Friday rose to its highest level since Aug. 16, 2008, increasing 1.1 cents to $3.993. The average price is 1.7 cents higher than a week ago, 31.4 cents more than one month ago and 88.4 cents above what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

2. A local water board voted unanimously Thursday to urge the state to restore the Salton Sea. Michael Hogan chairman of the San Diego County Water Authority board, said restoration of the Salton Sea is essential to the San Diego region's water supply needs.

3. North County residents will hear noise from live- fire exercises on Camp Pendleton this coming weekend, base officials announced Thursday. Artillery units will conduct the exercises from 6 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday, according to Camp Pendleton's public affairs office.
