San Diego County Gas Prices Drop 1.5 Cents Tuesday

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline is $3.81.1.

1. A regional action plan to save the endangered Nigeria-Cameroon chimpanzee -- the lead author is affiliated with the San Diego Zoo -- was endorsed by the governments of those two nations, the zoo announced Monday. Bethan Morgan, director of the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research's Central Africa Program, was the lead author of the plan, which seeks to protect the estimated 3,500 of the chimpanzees that remain in the area.

2. Debra Reed was Monday named chief executive officer of San Diego-based Sempra Energy by the corporation's Board of Directors. Reed, who has been with the company for 33 years, had been executive vice president of Sempra since April 2010. Before that, she was president and CEO of the two main subsidiaries, San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Co.

3. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline in San Diego County dropped 1.5 cents Tuesday, settling at $3.81.1. That's 7.2 cents less than a week ago and 22.3 cents less than at this time last month but more than 65 cents above the price at this time last year.
