San Diego County Gas Prices Continue to Fall

Prices fall for the 15th consecutive day.

1. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline fell in San Diego County Saturday for the 15th consecutive day, registering a substantial drop of 2 cents to settle at $4.115. The average price is 10.2 cents less than one week ago and 8.8 cents less than one month ago, but is still $1.027 higher than a year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

2. The search for a for a Navy petty officer, lost while swimming off Camp Pendleton, was not continued Saturday, a Coast Guard officer said. The search was suspended indefinitely at 7 p.m. Friday, after lifeguards, Coast Guard crews and Marine Corps personnel searched the Pacific Ocean and miles of San Diego County shoreline for approximately 23 hours, according to Petty Officer Henry Dunphy at the U.S. Coast Guard in San Diego.

3. The Sheriff's Dive Recovery Unit conducted training exercises at a mock crime scene Saturday at Lake Poway. Sheriff's divers practiced recovering evidence, using a dummy and two guns, and mapping out a crime scene, said Sheriff's spokeswoman Melissa Aquino. Divers worked under extreme conditions, such as zero visibility.
