San Diego County Gas Prices Back on the Rise

A seven-day streak of falling prices ended Monday.

1. A seven-day streak of falling prices ended Monday when the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County remained unchanged at $3.946. The average price is 2.7 cents less than one week ago but 23.1 cents more than one month ago and 96.2 cents higher than at this time last year, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

2. About 100 wounded military veterans are scheduled to compete around San Diego County Monday morning as part of the fourth annual National Veterans Summer Sports Clinic. Track and field events are scheduled at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. A surfing competition is being held at La Jolla Shores, and sailing and kayak events are being held at the San Diego Marriott Marina and Mission Bay Yacht Club. A cycling competition is scheduled at Tidelands Park in Coronado.

3. All 24 lanes at the San Ysidro port of entry were open Sunday, as federal investigators continued to probe the reason why scaffolding and part of a recently-poured concrete floor fell onto cars at the
busiest border crossing in the world. Customs and Border Patrol officials said they would continue to allow all vehicles to use truck lanes on an emergency basis at the Otay Mesa border station, and would keep the Tecate port open past its regular closing hour as motorists adjust to the normalized traffic flow at San Ysidro.
