Ramp Closures on I-15 and SR 56 This Weekend

Detours will be in place starting Friday night, but ramps are expected to re-open before Monday morning's rush hours.

Three ramps on Interstate 15 at state Route 56 will be closed this weekend, according to Caltrans. They will close Friday night at 9 p.m. and re-open Monday at 5 a.m. Detours will be posted.

The ramp closures are needed for construction work to prepare for an additional northbound lane around the I-15/SR 56 interchange, which Caltrans says will help traffic flow in the future.

The I-15 northbound off-ramp to state Route 56/Ted Williams Parkway. I-15 northbound motorists needing to exit to eastbound Ted Williams Parkway will be detoured to exit farther north at Carmel Mountain Road. Heading east on Carmel Mountain Road, they will then turn south on Rancho Carmel Drive until it intersects with Ted Williams Parkway. Motorists wanting to exit on westbound state Route 56, meanwhile, will be detoured at the I-15 exit at Poway Road/Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard and head west on Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard before accessing state Route 56.

The eastbound state Route 56 on-ramp to I-15 north. Motorists wanting to enter I-15 northbound from state Route 56 will be detoured on Ted Williams Parkway to turn north on Rancho Carmel Drive. They then they will turn west on Carmel Mountain Road to reach the I-15 northbound on-ramp.

The westbound Ted Williams Parkway on-ramp to I-15 north. Motorists seeking to access northbound I-15 from Ted Williams Parkway will be detoured north on Rancho Carmel Drive before driving west on Carmel Mountain Road to access the northbound I-15 on-ramp.

Construction crews will use the weekend closure to re-pave across and adjacent to the three ramps, as well as relocate construction barriers. Work is taking place over the weekend to cause as little traffic disruption as possible.
