Power Analytics Announces $150K Donation to UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering

The donation consists of licenses for the company's Paladin DesignBase modeling software, which is used to design and simulate electrical power infrastructure. 2. Sen. Juan Vargas, D-Chula Vista, introduced a resolution Tuesday calling for federal regulators to deny San Diego-based Sempra Energy a permit to import energy from a proposed wind farm in Baja California. Vargas said the Energia Sierra Juarez plant would outsource five years worth of employment for 600 construction workers. Those jobs could be better utilized in the Imperial Valley, which has the nation's worst unemployment rate at 27.9 percent, he said.

3. County, state and federal agricultural officials Tuesday asked San Diego-area residents to keep an eye out for an exotic species of weevil that could threaten palm trees. Eight South American palm weevils, in the beetle family, were discovered recently in San Ysidro, according to the San Diego County Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures.
