Poway High Senior Wins PTA Continuing Education Scholarship

Poway High senior Jessica Taylor has been awarded a $250 scholarship from the Palomar Council PTA.

Poway High School graduating senior Jessica Taylor has been selected for a $250 scholarship to use at a two-year education program from the Palomar Council PTA, one of seven awards from the group.

The Palomar Council PTA chose Taylor and Megan Grossman of Mount Carmel High School for its two $250 Continuing Education Scholarships. The scholarship was available to Poway Unified School District seniors planning to attend "an accredited educational institution that provides up to two years of college-level academic, technical, or vocational instruction with an emphasis on career preparation."

The Palomar Council PTA also chose five PUSD seniors for $500 Jessica Romag Memorial Scholarships, named in honor of Poway High School alumnus and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo junior Jessica Leigh Romag, who died July 17, 2004 in a car crash at the age of 20.

The five awardees are:  Alexis Mary Coons, Deanna Dunn and Stephanie Hutchens of Rancho Bernardo High School; and Megan Eisele and Anna Fox of Westview High School.

The awards will be presented during the group's June 4 meeting, set for 6:45 p.m. at the PUSD office, 15250 Avenue of Science, San Diego.
