Possible Measles Exposure for Passengers on United Airlines Flight to San Diego

Passengers on a May 27th flight from Chicago to San Diego may have been exposed, according to the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency.

1. It took a word not even listed in some dictionaries to knock a San Diego seventh-grader out of the semifinals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee Thursday in National Harbor, Md. 2. Passengers on a United Airlines flight from Chicago to San Diego on May 27 may have been exposed to measles, the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency announced Thursday. A 43-year-old Italian man with the highly contagious disease traveled from Brussels, Belgium, to New York City and then to Rochester, N.Y. He then flew to Chicago and caught the aircraft bound for San Diego, United Flight 521, according to the agency.

3. The continuing cycle of domestic violence could be slowed by the enactment of new legislation  removing legal obstacles for using global positioning system monitors on domestic abusers and requiring the abuser to pay for and wear the monitor, the county grand jury recommended Thursday. In its report, "Hitting Back at Domestic Violence,'' the grand jury also recommended that a proposed new law require offenders to pay for and complete abuse intervention programs ordered by the court, and streamline the existing cumbersome process for obtaining a Temporary Restraining Order.
