Palomar Health Foundation Receives $100K Donation

The donation comes from the Rincon Band of Luiseno Indians.

The Rincon Band of Luiseno Indians donated $100,000 to the Palomar Health Foundation, which supports Palomar Medical Center and Pomerado Hospital, the foundation announced this week.

The gift supports the hospital chain's "Building Your Healthcare of the Future" capital campaign, which seeks to raise $55 million.

The Rincon Reservation, in the inland part of northern San Diego County, is served by Palomar Medical Center in Escondido. The Harrah's Rincon Resort and Casino is part of the reservation.

"Good health is our most valuable asset as individuals and communities," said Bo Mazetti, chairman of the Rincon Band. "With this gift, the Rincon people are expressing our gratitude for the care we have received in the past and investing in future healthy living for ourselves and our neighbors."

The hospital chain opened the new Palomar Medical Center in August in the western end of Escondido, replacing a smaller facility near the city center. Pomerado Hospital is in Poway.
