Jury deliberations are scheduled to resume Monday in the trial of a 19-year-old accused in the fatal shooting of an El Capitan High School student whose body was found on the Barona Indian Reservation last fall.

Jurors on Friday began deciding the fate of Stanley Virgil Lloyd Jr., who is charged with first-degree murder in the October 2010 death of 17-year- old Christopher Carioscia of Lakeside. Carioscia went missing Oct. 26, 2010, after telling his family he was going surfing in Pacific Beach.

The next day, his burned-out car was found on the tribal grounds south of Ramona, and on Dec. 4, detectives found his body near the San Vicente Reservoir. Read the full story on Ramona.Patch.com.

Teams Announced for Bowls

California will play Texas in the Holiday Bowl Dec. 28, organizers announced Sunday, while Texas Christian University will be Louisiana Tech's opponent in Qualcomm Stadium's other bowl, the Poinsettia Bowl.

The Holiday Bowl has the second choice among Pacific-12 Conference teams and fourth choice from the 10-team Big 12 Conference, after the conference champions and any additional teams were chosen to participate in Bowl Championship Series games.

The Cal Golden Bears are 7-5, including victories in three of their past four games. The Texas Longhorns also are 7-5, losing three of their past four games. This will be Cal's third Holiday Bowl appearance and the fifth for Texas.

The 10-2 TCU Horned Frogs will be the Mountain West Conference representative in the Poinsettia Bowl for the third time in six years. The game gets the second selection of the conference, behind the Las Vegas Bowl.

Louisiana Tech, 8-4, earned a spot in the Dec. 21 game on Nov. 26 when it assured itself of the Western Athletic Conference championship by defeating New Mexico State, 44-0, at Ruston, La.
