Suspect Arrested in Woman's Disappearance‎

1. A 43-year-old former boyfriend of a missing Carlsbad woman was arrested Friday on suspicion of kidnapping and murder, although police continued to hold out hope she will be found alive. Although police said the investigation into the suspicious disappearance of 35-year-old Kathleen Cary Scharbarth was active and continuing, Michael David Robles, of Fallbrook, was arrested this morning, police said. 3. As shoppers flocked to stores Friday to hunt for bargains, so did crooks looking to take advantage of distracted victims. Black Friday marked the start of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department's Holiday Watch program, aimed at increasing patrols throughout neighborhoods, malls, on trolleys and trains, and other hot spots for criminal activity during the Christmas season.
