Midland Elementary Is Recognized for Excellence
Midland Elementary School joins an elite network dedicated to preparing children for colleges by getting them up to standard on the three "Rs."
1. Midland Elementary School is now a proud member of the No Excuses University Network. This network of elementary, middle and junior high schools provides a comprehensive model that prepares its children for college. Midland was selected as the 100th school to join the network due to its committed staff and the quality of its programs. Congratulations, Midland!
2. Another congratulations is in order for local resident Robert Sheffres. Sheffres took part in the Boston Marathon on Monday and ran the 40k in just over three and a half hours. That’s an average pace of eight and a half minutes per kilometer!
3. Phil Koeghan of The Amazing Race will attend the screening of his documentary The Ride at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 25, at the Edwards Mira Mesa Stadium Theatres. The screening is a fundraiser event for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in San Diego. According to representatives, the documentary was filmed while Koeghan rode from Los Angeles to New York in a fundraiser that generated $500,000 in donations for multiple sclerosis research, programs and services. Tickets are $12.50. For more information, visit noopportunitywasted.com.
