Marines, Sailors to Return to San Diego County Friday

Sailors aboard the USS Chancellorsville and the USS Preble, and Marines from the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan will return on Friday.

1. Marines and sailors aboard three U.S Navy warships will return to the San Diego area Friday following a seven-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Middle East. Sailors aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville and guided-missile destroyer USS Preble will return to Naval Station San Diego while sailors and Marines from the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan arrive at Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado Friday morning. 2. Authorities are working Friday to determine who intentionally set a 10-acre brush fire in Rancho Bernardo. It happened Thursday afternoon on West Bernardo Drive, about a mile south of Rancho Bernardo Community Park. Authorities say no one was hurt but there was about $5,000 worth of damage to a power pole. For more, check RanchoBernardo.Patch.com.

3. Three teenage boys were in custody Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder following a brawl in which three other teenage boys were stabbed, police said. Police were called to investigate a fight in the 900 block of Pier View Way at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to Oceanside police Capt. Leonard Mata. They found a 17-year-old boy at the scene with at least one stab wound, he said.
