Magnitude 3.9 Quake Rocks East County

The epicenter of the quake, which struck on Saturday, was about six miles east of Borrego Springs.

1. A magnitude 3.9 earthquake shook parts of East County Saturday, the United States Geological Survey reported. The epicenter of the quake, which struck at 12:32 p.m., was about six miles east of Borrego Springs, or 11 miles northwest of Ocotillo Wells and 60 miles east-northeast of San Diego, according to the USGS.

2. Nearly 40 people were arrested Saturday during a warrant sweep in the City of Lemon Grove and surrounding areas, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department reported. Between 6 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., the San Diego Sheriff's Department Court Services Bureau-Field Unit and the San Diego Fugitive Task Force targeted Lemon Grove and surrounding areas to apprehend suspects with misdemeanor and felony warrants, according to Sheriff's Sgt. 3. Sheriff's deputies arrested a gasoline station clerk Saturday for allegedly selling cigarettes to a minor decoy during an undercover buy operation in Vista, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department reported. The clerk was cited and released at the Foothill Chevron station in the 1200 block of East Vista Way, one of the 34 randomly selected retailers targeted between 9 a.m and 5 p.m., according to Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving Deputy J. Boyce.
