Hikers Hit the New Trail in Poway

A ceremony on Saturday opens a new trail segment of the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy.

The San Dieguito River Park now offers a connection between multiple trails totaling 55 miles throughout San Diego County.

A group of more than a dozen dignitaries led by Poway City Councilman Jim Cunningham took on the new 10.28-mile section of the trail and arrived at the Old Coach—Coast to Crest Trail Link.

The trail is San Diego County’s first north-south connector to branch off from the 55-mile Coast to Crest trail, which leads from the ocean at Del Mar to the San Dieguito River’s source on Volcan Mountain.
